New Milestones

Over 1,000 unique visitors have visited this humble blog. Plus there are now 106 of you grabbing my RSS feed according to FeedBurner.

It'll be interesting to see where these stats max out and levels off. From my own personal view point, the people who like the bean counting aspect of the game are in the minority. Plus WoW is growing some gray in its beard and there are lots of high level players out there who can make quite a bit of coin just farming high-level mats and questing.

Though that means you have quite a bit of capital to make serious coin in the Auction House.

Thanks for your visits and for all the comments along the way. This wouldn't be a whole lot of fun without people getting something out of it.

And hopefully that "something" is a boat load of gold.

I only came across your blog on friday after seeing it mentioned on Tobolds site..

Since then I'm happy to report I've turned the 5 gold I had on friday evening, into 170 gold in my pocket by last night! ..and thats after Id bought pieces of Lightforge/Valor armour + a "of furies" card ready for level 70.

I still have around 130 auctions averaging between 1 and 6 gold each awaiting sale aswell.. hopefully my mailbox will be full of gold this evening for me to re-invest :)

My utmost thanks for the tips contained in this blog.. I could farm ok cash on my Mage main before (grind grind boring grind), but its never been easier on my Pally alt thanks to these tips!

Topknot - WooHoo! That's awesome news. Comments like these make my day. Thanks for sharing.

As you mentioned, once you start flipping successfully in the AH, farming and grinding will loose their luster. You can also get to pick professions based on what you want to do instead of what you feel you should have because you need the coin from the gathering or creating.

Flipping FTW!

Wow. My comment isn't nearly as cool as that one. Oh well, here goes.

I spent some time dabbling with this pre-TBC and found it was a nice way to make some money. At the very least, it made Auctioneer a required addon for me. Now that I have the new advanced version, I don't really know what to do with it. (I haven't been flipping anything but gold to the jewelcrafters lately.) Can you do a post or series on some of the cool new features of Auctioneer Advanced? I'd also like to know if there's an easy way to search auctions like I used to do after a scan.

Yeah flipping is vastly better than grinding.. and after nearly 2 years play its more fun to try a new method aswell. Just wish Id wised up to AH flipping a long time ago or knew you didnt need 100's of gold to get started,

I really didnt think Id see as much success from just 5 gold as I did but some lucky wildvine bargains started me off well.. bought 2 stacks of 20 for 50 silver each, split to 5's and resold. Kept re-investing the money in trade goods as it came in, and before I knew it I was up to nearly 200 gold + over 100 auctions still listed.

Best part of it all is the ease of it.. Id go questing for an hour or two, drop back to a major city, pick my cash up, re-invest it.. back questing again within 20 mins.. couldnt be easier :)

Og,

I only recently discovered your website but its a good one. I'm one of the 106 who subscribe to your feed(only way to read blogs imo).

I am a long time user of Auctioneer. However I only recently started playinging WoW again after a 7 month hiatus. I previously had a level 70 main (Alli Warlock) who made lots of gold on the AH, using many techniques similar to what you advocate on your blog. I rerolled Horde on another server to join some RL friends and am starting off at the bottom again. I've been a little bit lazy with my AH scanning but I'll be ready to go soon, and I've already been able to make some decent deals just because of my experience.

I fully agree with you that the best thing about AH trading is that it enables you to play the game the way YOU want to play it. Want to powerlevel a profession? You can do it. Want to pick up some cool gear? You can do it. Dont want to worry about how youre going to pay for that epic mount / flying mount? AH is the answer. Good job on the blog, keep it up.

Topknot - Feels great when the big deals fall from the sky. And they always fall. If you're not looking for them then you'll never see them. With the Auction House you want to take the Red Pill - use Auctioneer, scan, buy, resale, lather, rinse, repeat.

Thanks for the details. Gives me a warm glow just thinking about it.

Chris - Thanks for subscribing and the great comments. I'm sure you'll be swimming in gold in no time on the new server. Keep me posted on your progress.

Finwe - I'm getting a lot of what-the-heck-am-I-supposed-to-do-with-Auctioneer-Advanced comments so I've got a series on deck on tips on how I use Auctioneer Advanced. I'll see if I can't get something out sooner rather than later.

On the Search Auctions functionality in Advanced, that's planned for but not quite ready yet. Classic and Advanced are still in pre-release so many of the features and fine tuning that will blow your Blood Guard's Silk Walkers right off your feet.

What that means for you now is that functionality is only included in Auctioneer Classic.
